BIOGRAPHY

Jianpeng Feng, percussionist and educator, percussion instructor at The Hartt School Community Division. He served as the solo musician for the Broadway show “M Butterfly”, percussion for the Off-Broadway show “Soft Power”, and performed marimba concertos with Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra in San Francisco and San Jose. He has performed and judged competitions in Canada, Japan, Germany, the United States, and throughout China. As a solo percussionist he has won several international competitions, including the PAS KoSA Marimba Competition (2013), the 3rd Chinese International Percussion (both Snare Drum and marimba) Competition (2011). Since 2012, he has been working with the China Conservatory and its attached secondary school giving masterclasses, recitals and coaching ensembles. He has also given master-classes to University of Lethbridge (Canada), Shenyang Conservatory (China) and Wuhan Conservatory (China). In addition, he organized PAS China International Percussion Festivals (2016 – present), the 2019 Hartt-China Percussion Winter Camp, the 2015 University of Minnesota Duluth International Percussion Summer Camp and worked as director. Recently, he has become the secretary-general of Percussive Arts Society Chinese Chapter and the member of Percussive Arts Society International Committee.
